BIO

*Brooklyn G*


Brooklyn G is a composer, musician, synthesist, engineer, producer, sound designer and modular effects configurator and neuropsychologist. In the early 1970's he began composing Electronic Music in multiple forms. Beginning in the mid-1970s he played in several bands and groups in both the United States and the UK. In 1978 he co-founded the band The Transistors with producer/actor John Gulager. He worked with John Gulager and with Billy Bones (Skulls)  in the glam punk band Forbidden Colors, which appeared on television in 1980 in Los Angeles on Channel 13's New Wave Theatre. In addition He has worked with Veruschka, Sky Saxon (Seeds), Chuck Wada (Motels) and Rick Bremmer (Stiv Bators), Todd Homer (Angry Samoans) as well Max Lazer (Max Lazer Band) From 1981 to 1984 Brooklyn G was recording and performing in London with a variety of groups, and was part of the industrial dub group Red Beat on Malicious Damage Records (Killing Joke, Red Beat, Ski Patrol), which achieved sustained airplay on British radio. In 1982 Red Beat conducted a European tour with appearances in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.

Brooklyn G was trained in music theory and received individual instrumental mentoring at Los Angeles City College, California State University Los Angeles, and UCLA. He also completed a certificate in Composition and Recording Arts in 2012, studying at Mesa College with the composer Igor Korneitchouk and engineer/recording studio owner Jack Elliot.

Outside of his musical work, he has spent 30 years working as a Clinical Neuropsychologist and Qualified Medical Examiner (QME) helping patients with traumatic brain injuries and serving as a expert witness in criminal cases. He received a bachelor's degree in psychobiology and an master's in industrial organizational psychology from Cal State LA, followed by his Doctorate in Behavioral Medicine from California Graduate Institute/UCLA.

Brooklyn G is a member of the Murrieta Arts Council and the founder of the Temecula Experimental Composers Collective and prior member of the British Performing Rights Society.
